Super Circus TV Show Collectibles Values

Super Circus (1949-56) originated from ABC-TV affiliate WBKB in Chicago. Claude Kirchner served as the kiddie show's first host with Mary Hartline as his assistant and Scampy, Cliffy and Nicky the clowns in support. ABC-TV's Super Circus (1949-56) was one of television's earliest children's shows. The series originally emanated from Chicago featuring ringmaster Claude Kirchner as host and Mary Hartline as his assistant. Also on hand were three clowns: Clifford Soubier (Cliffy), Bart Patton and Sandy Dobritsch (Scampy) and Nicky Francis (Nicky). In 1955, the show moved to New York where Jerry Colonna and baton twirler Sandy Wirth took over as hosts. Weather-Bird Shoes and Cross Publications produced the 52-page Super Circus #1 comic book in January 1951. One example in very fine+ condition brought a top bid of $101.58 at auction. Original price: ten cents. Cross published a total of five Super Circus comic books in 1951.

Dell Publishing produced its official Super Circus comic book series from 1954-56. Dell Four Color #542 dated March 1954 in graded CGC very fine 8.0 condition sold at auction for $62. It was a file copy from Dell.
