Many items we use everyday are called by their brand name rather than the generic classification they belong in. One of these names is Pyrex. Nearly any glass bowl or baking item made of glass, like baking pans, pie plates, measuring cups and coffee and teapots are called Pyrex, whether made by Corning Glass as part of their Pyrex line or not.

Collecting ceramics can be a very interesting hobby. First there's the fun of finding pieces that you like or that are unusual. Then there's the fun of researching the time and place of manufacture, based on the mark or back stamp. You can buy pieces very cheaply at thrift stores. When I designed my kitchen, I found that so much of my grandmother's inspiration guided me in the project. So it's not a modern kitchen, but it works perfectly for our family and we love it. Bright vibrant colors are the highlight with accessories to bring back the past. If you have fond memories of a loved one or time of your life, embellish it with those memories and you will feel those good feelings whenever you see them.

Beautiful treasures now but formerly jetsam, sea glass turns up on nearly any beach. Prized by beachcombers for their colors, who could deny the joy of idly collecting colorful orbs of glass from the water's edge? Sea and Beach glass of various colors are becoming more scarce as anti-dumping laws prohibit the dumping of trash at sea. However, there is still much beach glass to be collected!

In numismatics (the study and collection of currency or coins) a "“novodel" refers to Russian coins that were struck to reproduce an actual issued coinage. Often minted to be better than the original, a novodel is still a good collector's choice for rare and out-of-circulation coins. You can own a 'real thing' collectible coin for a fraction of the rare coin price.
